Auricular Acupuncture

Lend me your ears!

Auricular Acupuncture treatments, taken enough times, can help with pain relief, clear the mind, build energy, and give a sense of wellbeing.

Auricular acupuncture, or ear acupuncture as it is more commonly known, is similar to body acupuncture but with ear acupuncture stimulation is only to the external ear. It is a method of treating a variety of physiological and psychological health problems.

Chinese view the human body as an organic system where the internal organs are interdependent and connected through the meridians with the sense organs, muscles, bones and skin. The ears are an integral part of the body and are connected to the meridian system as well, and different points reflect different parts of the body.

What is involved and how will I feel during the treatment?

Six to ten tiny needles are placed in each ear, allowing the clients to rest for 20 mins up to 45 mins. This can be a good time to relax or benefit from a Tuina treatment or Reflexology! Points in the ear correspond to specific organs including, lungs, liver, kidney and nervous system. One of the main points is for relaxation, the treatment triggers the release of natural body chemicals including endorphins, which help reduce cravings for drugs, ease withdrawal symptoms and reduce physical pains and induce relaxation. Once the needles have been placed, your ears may tingle or feel warm, some clients even fall asleep as they are so relaxed. Others may not feel that much, but even if you don't you are still getting benefit from the treatment. Acupuncture is most effective after a series of treatments over a period of time.
